BRIAN CHAN | COMPOSER
 
 

Brian Chan is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a focus on music for picture. He has written original music for Netflix, CBS, Fox, Sony, and DreamWorks titles as well as for hundreds of albums and commercial releases.

Notable live-action credits include Boston Blue (CBS), North of North (Netflix), It’s Not Like That (Amazon), Allegiance (CBC),  Alert: Missing Persons Unit (Fox/Sony), Panhandle (Sony/Spectrum), and Sam Rami’s horror anthology series 50 States of Fright (Roku). In the family space, projects include LEGO DreamZzz Season 3-4 (Netflix), Fairly Oddparents: A New Wish (Netflix), Angry Birds: Summer Madness (Netflix), DreamWork’s Pinecone and Pony (Apple TV+), The Thundermans Return (Nickelodeon), and Team Zenko Go (Netflix). All the above were co-composed with his brother Caleb. 

Brian has been recognized with Canadian Screen Award nominations, a Canadian Screen Music Award, and numerous Leo Awards. In 2024, he was the recipient of SOCAN’s “Breakout Composer of the Year” award alongside his brother. 

Brian also enjoys collaborating as a music producer, engineer and session musician. In 2020, his work as a music recording engineer for CBC Radio was nominated for a Juno Award. Other past projects include recordings with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony orchestraJan Lisiecki, Nicole Lizée, and broadcasts for The New Pornographers and Mother Mother.  As an arranger and musician, he has contributed to albums by artists such as Jordan Klassen, Dear Rouge and Iamtheliving amongst others. 

Brian currently serves on the board of Vancouver International Film Festival. He holds a Masters in sound recording from the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, but aspires to master napping  at any time of the day.
